The course we know today was shaped in 1938 by Tom Simpson and Molly Gourlay, two of golf’s most revered architects. Their design philosophy of maximizing natural features and strategic shot-making still defines the playability and challenge of Baltray.

Baltray has hosted prestigious championships throughout its history, most notably the Irish Open in 2004 and 2009. It was here that future Open Champion Shane Lowry made history by winning the Irish Open as an amateur, cementing County Louth’s place in golf lore.
